Case Study: Influencer Marketing for Local Restaurant

an Instagram Reel posted by a local influencer showing two large slices of pizza on a white plate. Engagement metrics such as likes, comments, and shares are visible, indicating strong audience interaction with the reel.

A local restaurant aimed to expand its presence among younger customers in the 18–34 demographic, a large portion of the residents in the college town where the business was located. While the brand maintained consistent organic posting and routine paid advertising, reach and engagement among younger audiences remained limited. Current content performed well with the existing customer base but did not resonate strongly with new, younger diners. Engagement rate among users under 34 was significantly lower than other age groups, even when promotions or high-quality food photography were used.

To better align with platform behavior, the restaurant partnered with a local influencer whose audience skewed younger and who specialized in lifestyle-based food content. The collaboration centered around an Instagram Reel (referenced in the campaign), showcasing the restaurant’s dishes in a quick, upbeat, visually engaging format. The content was optimized for high-impact hooks, trending audio, and fast cuts — all proven drivers of attention for younger audiences.

Results showed a significant rise in visibility among the 18–34 demographic. The reel generated substantially higher engagement than previous restaurant-owned posts, with a notable increase in shares and saves — two strong indicators of audience resonance. Traffic from Instagram to the restaurant’s website and online menu increased, while in-store feedback indicated similar results as younger guests referenced the promo code associated with the influencer upon deciding to visit. Overall, the campaign demonstrated that influencer-led content created a more natural, authentic path to awareness, successfully expanding the restaurant’s reach among its target younger demographic.
